Limo Operator Killer Sentanced
The husband of special constable Nisha Patel-Nasri has been convicted of organising her murder to fund a luxury lifestyle with his mistress. It has been shown that the Lebanese-born limousine hire boss Fadi Nasri was secretly leading a double life with Laura Mockiene, a Lithuanian prostitute, in her 20s. Originally Nasri attempted to blame an innocent Scottish woman, Lisa Rafferty, for his wife's killing, claiming that Scottish "gangsters" were responsible.
Nisha Patel-Nasri, 29, was stabbed to death outside her home in May 2006 on the orders of husband, Fadi Nasri. Although she maintained a "bubbly" facade while working day and night, up to seven days a week, at her salon, and still finding time to volunteer as a special constable, her cheery demeanour masked a secret sadness. She was desperate for a baby and sick of being stuck at home while her husband went out. She had told one friend she wanted a divorce.
Nasri had told police that Scotswoman Lisa Rafferty had threatened to kill him and his hairdresser wife in a row over business; he had sold a Hummer limousine to First Class Limo Hire in Shotts, Lanarkshire. However, he had gone to Glasgow and snatched back the £70,000 motor from firm boss Ms Rafferty after she withheld money due to its poor condition.
Minutes after his wife was declared dead, Nasri played detectives a recording of a mobile phone call in which Ms Rafferty had made death threats. Initially, Scotland Yard detectives raced to Scotland to arrest Ms Rafferty, who later admitted going over the top, claiming that at five foot two, she was just a wee Scots lassie. She also claimed that she had never been out of Scotland before.
